I was very very tempeted to get an R32 and took one for a test drive which I thought was better MPG: :  nearly got it for the noise alone , but was put off paying Bloody $400 road tax and for what untold potholes!! My Car has done 5000 miles from new. I await your replys? enjoy steve

17mpg  That is pretty poor!!

I would have to drive constantly over the speed limit to get down to that... or just drive everywhere @ 6k revs.

I would get that looked at tbh

What is there to look at though? In london its bloody stop start all the time, On motorway I can get 30 to 35 at 70MP in 6th gear. The car is still new though so it should get bit better 5000 on clock , its just coming into its own now (loseing up) Still costing me 60 to 70 quid a week fuel though. Regrets regrets regrets R32 should have got it!! Aho the next one will be the R20 Cant F----- wait !!

If there are no other problems, then it's all down to your right foot.

Otherwise, check the tyres, which make a huge difference. Should be 37psi or 2.6bar as on the inside of your fuel filler flap.

Take it out on to the motorway and stay at a constant 60mph in 6th gear (no heavy right foot, no overtaking) for about half an hour and see what the average mileage is - should be a lot higher (high 30s, low 40s at the lowest). If not, take it to the garage for inspection.

When I bought my car at 3000 miles, I was managing 22-25 mpg normal city driving.

My modded ED30 has averaged 23.9mpg in about 2k.

On a run best we have had is 34mpg but I know the DSG box can zap the fuel

On a normal run Ive had up to 38mpg.
Usually on a run I get 30-35mpg.
Around town its the upper 20's.

All with 'normal' driving.

27-31mpg - Seems as long as it's warm I get the same(ish -2/3)mpg even with rather spirited driving

vpower or super unleaded should also help

but you'll need a few tank fulls for the ecu to learn
