:sad:car went in to the stealers for some work drivers seat not sliding back steering rack problem and while there they found a abs fault . they did seat and steering in two days but took 8DAYS to find abs problem and all they did in the end was recode it. anyway picked car up late friday and i was at work saturday morning so did not wash clean and look at the gti until sat afternoon . when i did i found a great gash out of the plastic scuff panel that runs down the door and it was not there when i took it in. drivers side so one seat not worked for mouths so no one gets in that way anyway . would you lot take it back and KICK OFF :angry
also when i picked the car up the mid line said the car had just been 10 miles run for just over 1 hour and at 18mpg , only had abs recoded ,would they need to test drive it and and FOR TEN MILES . also at 18mpg has someone been playing in it...!!!!!

id complain about gash in door mate but 18mpg over 10 miles in a hour stands a good chance its been on tick over
-
Agree - complain and take it back immediately to get the door panel fixed.

Agree - take it back. I had some trim damaged when they did some warrenty work. They changed it FOC. Which they should.

lol so not just mine then. They managed to rip the passenger door trim off when mine was in for service. I saw it as soon as I opened the door and got them to replace it. Fecking useless sometimes.
-
I had a scuff mark in the door frame at the bottom - just by the ED30 kick plate - after I took my car in to have the air intake hose re-connected.
They denied it completely.
Wont ever be taking my car back there again.

Its really important to do a full check in with your car when it goes into a dealer, i make them walk around it with me and do a full check, recorded on paper (with a copy for me too) inside and out,
This at least gives you a leg to stand on, otherwise you have zero proof,
Cheers,

Thats a very good idea, and I may actually do that when I take her in for a service....

been to vw today . they were spot on again and putting a new bit of trim on , so told them to do it in four weeks when car goes in for a service . still cant think why the high line said 18mpg running four 1 hour and covered 10 miles, carl1 said it would have been on tick over , if so why would it have covered 10 miles ??

i expect they road tested the car to ensure the ABS was working though thinking about it 10 miles seems a little excessive :undecided:
was it your trip computer or your long term computer showing you that?? if they've disconnected the battery your long term computer would be reset and perhaps they've road tested it trying out the ABS system over the week they've had it
or they might well have ragged the sh!t out of it
-
they had taken battery off yes but when i picked the car up the ten miles was on the 1 not 2 , 1 is the trip
computer and 2 is long term YES?? . sort term resets after so long after engine is turned off am i right??
just think 10 miles is a long way for a test drive and 18mpg :undecided:
-
As said, if its taken them 1 hour something to do 10 miles then chances are its been left on tickover for whatever reason, hence the 18MPG.

the ignition could have been left on for 50 mins (not ticking over just dash lights on) and then been thrashed for 10 mins over 10 miles or taken out in heavy traffic for 20 mins when ignition on for 40 mins. Their are endless possibilities the point being its hard to acuse or prove them of thrashing your car
EDIT im no expert on test drives tho but i know what you mean about test drive for 10 miles, does seem a lot
