Right, im not that smart when it comes to getting the right stuff for my car.
and most of the time theres always a twist.
my mid section is blowing, its all rusted and i need a whole new system because it sounds crap at the moment.
i have a Scorpion DTM backbox which came off a mk2, i thought i can get it chopped & changed 2 fit my MK3 1.6cl.
i can but is it worth the hassle ? because i need a new mid section.
im thinking of getting a Cat-back system (scorpion preferably) will the gti8v / 16v / vr6 systems fit my 1.6 cl ?
Because ive been searching ebay, google everywhere and there isnt one for a 1.6 cl.
does anyone know if there is one specificaly for my car, or how hard will it be to make ends meet with a different engined mk3 system ?
If you have any idea, please leave feedback.
Thanks

the exhaust system layout is the same on all mk3 models however its the bore that changes, the non gtis and the 8v have a smallere bore than the 16v/vr6. so in effect any exhaust sytem advertised for a non gti mk3 will fit and will be money down the drain as it will sound rubbish along with no performance gains. my suggestion would be to have the mid section replaced with a standard item and buy a suitable back box for looks purposes.

so its not worth getting a full system, just replace mid section with a standard one (roughly how much ?)

or buy a gti system and fit a stepped sleeve just after the cat...

unfortunatly no 'performance mod' is worth it on a 1.6... as for a mid section i would say about 100 quid fitted? :undecided:

come to think of it, can i get just a standard stainless steel mid-section because i dont want it to rust after a couple years, because i might keep the car for a while.
-
s/s route starts to get pricey, surely you would progress to a better car/engine in a couple of years?

appears the 1.6 has a slightly differnt mid box as i havnt seena 1.6 system.. your best bet is to go to a garage (ive even had some good quotes from kwik-fit in the past) and get a quote to supply and fit a new mid silencer

Okay dude,
Much appreciated. ill let you know how it goes, selling my other mk3 this weekend, so that will fund the exhaust bits.
