Picked up a 90 MKii 16V last week with five weeks mot left for 300 notes. Been lying in a field for 8 months or so I think. Smoked a bit on startup and accelaration so was expecting the worst when i took it for its mot today (wanted to check if it was worth keeping or not).
Got the phone call at quarter to ten this morning - needs a new headlight (cracked/coroded) and replacement wiper blades!!!
Aren't VWs amazing eh?
Getting it back tomorrow so will have a 16V with solid body and decent BBS alloys and 13 months MOT for a total cost of ?410 including the purchase of the car!!
Can't believe my luck! Me and a mate are gonna start racing each other at knockhill so the first job will probbly be to upgrade the brakes but part of me wants to see how long I can own the car without spending any dosh!
Even better is that it has stopped smoking after a couple of burst runs!

I picked up an F plate 8V for ?250.
Years MOT, 10 months tax.
Superb runner and no faults other than bonnet and roof need repainting.
Touchet mr. pussycat.

Picked up a 1989 Freg Black 5 door Mk11 8V the other day for 100 notes, the engine sounds good and it made it home without falling apart, it's got no tax or mot, needs a few bits done to the bodywork, but overall im happy.
If i decide to use it as parts will get my money back.

They do seem to be built to survive what we throw at 'em
I remeber my bro borught a A-reg C model for 100 notes which had sat around in a field for 2 years unused and had 220000 miles on the clock!
All we had to do was unblock the carb and it ran like new!
If you ignore the oil/water leaks/holes in floor. . . . . :-\
-
how do you manage to get 13 months MOT ???
-
^^^ i was wondering that? do they do mail order? :P

but to be fair it was f**king shocking! :o it was mouldy so i threw away all the carpets which exposed multiple holes in the floor, good for putting fags out when it was raining! ;D oh yeah and i accidentally set it alight when i spilt petrol on a hot exhaust manifold, bastard kept coming back for more. sold it for ?110 ;D

If you have one month left when you put it in, you get that added to twelve "new" months
