Prob a stupid question but my 8v gti was running with an oil temp of 112 thismorning on the way to work is this a little high? It usualy runs around 90 to 102
Cheers Matt

112 is a little high mate for normal driving but if you was driving hard then it's ok
-
yea i was just driving to work normal speed 2 mile trip might be cause my water keeps pumping out of my water bottle hence not cooling oil.
i will investigate further today
-
sounds like it could be your thermostat, does the bottom radiator hose get warm?
-
That seems high, my 8v never went over 95 even on a motorway trip.
-
nor mine...
your oil and water problem definitely appear to be linked... i'd get it sorted pronto
biggest suspect sounds like the thermostat.. check your bottom rad hose once the engine is warm as cable said
-
well i just looked at my oil levels and its half way up the dipstick :undecided:
going to drain it out and start again. going to get a new water bottle and replace the old one and try again

I've had it that high many times!
But not on a short trip!
