Mine doesn't work! I've replaced the unit and checked fuses - any tips on where else i should look. I'm not much good with electrics but its beginning to annoy me.

radio fuse

Ah....the mist clears and it starts to make more sense, yet not.

I'm not sure its the fuse as the radio still works

pull the console forward and make sure its still plugged in, there is a plug on ciggy lighter itself and another one further along the ciggy loom. console is held in with a screw either side on undertrays plus another under the gearstick surround

Some swine has removed my lighter inc. loom, how difficult would it be to make up a loom?
-
run it on a switch or permanant live it's your choice. permanent would be excellent for lighting cigs but probably not ideal if you leave sat nav plugged in.

Permenant live? Clue is in the name i take it?
I would be most likely be running the sat nav off it as I've got me zippo for my smokes
Just want to return it to as vw intended.
As everyone loves a car fire, anything no no's I should watch out for? I know I shouldn't lick my fingers to check if a wires live but anything else?

factory the ciggy lighter is perm live anyway, if you look up behind console/above dash under tray you might find the plug for the ciggy loom hanging, it disconnects just up where the dash undertray ends. i doubt they took loom away all to fusebox, that would take a fair bit of effort :)
if they have then where is your hazard switch, dash or column?

They're still there, I'll have a look under dash when I get it back as it's being held hostage at the MOT station
