Right, first off thanks jv for starting up the project thread, about time I did one!

I have a vision. A vision of uniqueness and crazyness. Thanks martz for drawing this "vision" of mine.

First off gotta show you some before pics, of when the car was bought. It was pretty much standard apart from lowering springs that have seen better days.

here it is alongside the mk2
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh115/kharekatoh/golf%20mk3/DSC00339.jpg)

Very standard, 8v GTI. came with 12 months MOT, 6 months tax, a non working electric sunroof that I have now fixed, and FSH with cambelt change at 100k (bought on 124k, now 128K).
Paid 900 smackaroos for it from a dealer in southampton.

First mods to kick it off where VR6 splitter, red GTI grill badge, and lower bumper cold air intakes from bored_welsh_lad :afro:

Then, the number 1 free mod
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh115/kharekatoh/golf%20mk3/DSC01613.jpg)

For me a mk3 golf looks at it's best with hella twins, so i HAD to buy them. Mikester was the man, so paid him £110.

Bought a gearknob off ebay, with gay LED's, so took them straight out as the knob came through the door.

Artistic shot at hurst castle, in keyhaven.

So, painted the front VW badge black, so I thought it would look much better.

and fitted
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh115/kharekatoh/golf%20mk3/DSC01566.jpg)

Then came the first wash since owning it. Sadly I had to do this at the car wash, so results were pretty poor to say the least.

The VR6 splitter was the nicked!

Then, I organised another JKM RR day in march, where it pulled 116.6hp and 135ft lb of torque, with a standard engine apart from drilled airbox. I was VERY impressed, as it hadn't been serviced in 25,000 miles and it was running normal shell 95 fuel.

Noticed the flatspot at 3000rpm, so spoke to nick and ben from RTechUK, and they recommended nothing other than a pipercross air filter.

noticed better throttle response and better pull throughout the rev range.

Also bought NGK spark plugs. Brand new, £2.80 from ebay. Gotta love ebay dont you.

Then, I concentrated on suspension, as this needed doing. The top mounts where shagged, so I decided new VR6 top mounts, floflex wishbone polybushes and new ball joints. Very kindly, Diamond Hell offered to help out do the job and so I finally met him at his workshop in bristol. HUGE thanks to him. It made a world of difference. I could throw the car to almost any corner and it would just grip!

So after that, I decided i needed to spice up the 8v engine. Bought myself a chip from greece, but because it is a sodler type chip, i've still yet to fit it. It's a job for danny_p to do, hopefully in the next month or two.
Also planned is making a de-cat pipe, and sticking it on, again, this will be done with the helping hand of Diamond Hell.

After this, left the car alone for a while, due to having no money. So back to artistic shots
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh115/kharekatoh/golf%20mk3/DSC00849.jpg)

So then came cherwell valley meet, organised by the one and only shady_pioneer.
Car had to be spanking clean, so borrowed a mates driveway for the evening, and the result was this.

Then decided to tidy engine bay. So started polishing cam cover.

then, calipers were painted YELLOW!

Quality was bad because it started raining half way through the job, so had to rush it to finish it. I will tidy the paint up soon however.

Then, wired up some sidelights to the indicators, and made some US style lights.

Short shifter too
(http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/hh115/kharekatoh/golf%20mk3/DSC01629.jpg)

Great mod! gearchanges feel so much better now.

Needed new tyres, so toyo T1R's all round. Can I jsut saw, WOW levels of grip!!

then went scrappy hunting and got some tailgate struts, which became bonnet lifters.

Thanks shady for the guide, although I had to call you halfway through because I got confused.

and then, final addition as of yet is a decal reading "El torito" meaning the little bull in spanish.

Thats it for progress so far.

Planned for the next few months are
coilovers
new brake pads (greenstuff)
refurbing wheels
and some other stuff.

EDIT: Thanks to naisbitt aswell for lending me his driveway in various past and future ocasions :afro:

New exhaust - Swapped it for my standard backbox. Its not in the best of conditions but it looks pretty decent. Its a peco exhaust, I thought it was gonna be loud, but its as loud as the standard backbox

No update in a LONG time. Not much has been done though.

Fitted new steering rack and inner anti roll bar bushes., no more leaking power steering

A chipping session went wrong so had to buy another ADY ECU, that proved expensive.

Throttle body porting also went wrong, got too keen with the file, again, proved a low economic blow.

Got my wheels aligned, £46 later and it is much much better.

So now I am in red numbers, I shall be not doing anything for a while, seeing as I have MOT coming up next month AND road tax, and insurance in January. So until after that, no more goodies for the car.
