Title: Golf mk3 1.4 does - mine have ABS?

I need a new front near side hub, and I was asked if my car has ABS or not, funny I know but ive had the car 3 years and don't know if it has or not...  :laugh:

Can anyone tell me how to check please?  :smiley:

go to a gravel road or a road that has slippery stuff on it (seaweed for example) and jump on the brake pedal. If the wheels lock up then no abs, if the abs kick in the pedal will judder and you will hear a pumping noise.

my abs on the gti worked perfectly but still skidded loads with ditchfinder pro's fitted!!  :grin: :grin:

there is no ABS light anywhere on there dashboard, so am i safe to assume from that it doesn't have ABS?

I think I might have locked up the brakes once,  they are solid discs, not vented if thats any help.

I remember when it had its discs and pads changed they asked if its got abs or not, I never got to find out though, as the garage replaced them for me ages ago  :sad:

Hi ho hi ho.... its off to the breakers yard we go...  :grin:

I'll post in the other forum where I am going, as the people there are well trained (all the parts are stripped off the cars, engines and boxes marked with milage) and prices are reasonable, and come with a 3 month warranty.

Not bad for a used part business ey!  :smiley:
