Title: getting hottuning coilovers but what bushes to use? (powerflex)
Post by: sharki786 on 06 May 2009, 16:05
Hi all,

going to be getting some hottuning coilovers this week hopefully, but ive heard on this website that i will need to replace the bushes with powerflex bushes for vr6 to last longer or something else??? I have a golf gti mk3 8v anniversary, which bushes do i need to replace?
Gsf dont do the powerflex as i have just rang then. the guy i spoke to also said that its best to replace the bottom bushes on the rears??? Just need to confirm this before going ahead.

Thanks in advance.

Sharki

I would replace all the top mounts but the bushes should be fine.

Yuo will need to replace the front top mounts with a set off a VR6. When I did mine I bought them from HERE, Next day delivery. (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-GOLF-MK3-GTI-VR6-CORRADO-SHOCK-TOP-MOUNT-KITS-C358_W0QQitemZ190303140410QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item190303140410&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=|301:1|293:1|294:30)

You can replace the bottom bushes on the rear but they don't normaly go.

No worries, the hotuning coilovers are ok but if set silly low then the ride will be very harsh.

If you want a decent ride quality you wont get it with the Hottunning coilies!

ok couple of things, what the hell does 'you get me?' mean? also if your not intending to do 'none of that slammed stuff' then why are you buying coilovers? just go buy a set of lowerd suspension then you wont moan about ride quality..

Do you have them on your car Len?

Nothing wrong with the ride on mine, no worse than any other cheap coils I have used before anyway.

shep no offence but you do have a problem mate as you always got a prob with me or my car. sad! you get me is just a way of saying do you understand me?  and reason why i want coilovers is that i have a heavy bass box in my car and the back suspension is realy low! but na u got some bogus thing to say. so i know that if i get lowering springs the back will be more lower than the front. also i could lower it they way i want to. that explain things to you?

p.s IF YOU READ THAT POST PROPERLY YOU PROB WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OH OK THEN.

here's my 10p worth......
most cheaper coilies are very very similar (hottuning, vmax and jamex are identical exept branding! and I guess janspeed will be the same?) so which ever you buy the ride will be the same until you get some proper adjustable one's etc

oh and people need to chill

My 2 pence worth, if you running a heavy bass box in the boot then coilovers would be better as you could set the rear higher if needed.

easy lads. just wanted to share that i got some jom coilovers got them for £200 from vw bits in birms, they was on for £250 but as they where the last set on display the guy nocked £50 off not complaining. now i just need some top mounts for front and rear and a set of lower ball joints. is there anywhere i could get some upgraded lower ball joints or aint there anything such as that?

cheers lads

p.s cant wait to fit them!
