What are your opinions on them?
Im very tempted to get one, can pick one up for alot less then a decent mk4 Golf, aswell as being cheaper to insure and run.
A 16v would also be nice but its over doubles my insurence

I think they're class. Drop them on some nice alloys and keep it nice and clean and they're stunning
-
Very solid, they don't seem to rust, like the previous model.
-
its the only modern polo to have
-
sis has one of these with the 1.4 16v engine is quite pokey. the dash is the only thing that lets it down really. look great slammed on nice rims...
-
I like them plus lowered on nice alloys always seems to work really well.
-
I like them, but I do find the interiors a bit grey plasticky and soulless. So, drop it low, nice alloys and a retrim!!!
-
I like the estate version :)
-
Thay have a reputation for destroying gearboxes, even at low mileages but I think this is only a problem on the 16v and GTI models.

My mum has got the base 1.0L model. Its been completely trouble free for 7 years since she bought it.
-
the 1.4 tdi was pokey enough that the missus had...although she prefers the golf due to the less likely to blow away at 70mph factor  She just thinks they feel light at speed, but build quality wise, it was spot on...not a beat missed.
-
 rollerskatetastic
-
The missus has a 2001 GTI and it's a cracking little motor
Steering is very light though!

agree with this, my sisters has the highline alloys and at motorway speeds it trams and feels a little unstable. still love the way they look though

can't fault the looks at all...proper VW styling unlike the later ones

Good views I see  Was in the mrs 1.0 version today on the motorway cruising at 70mph without problem and pulling enough to still overtake.
Seems only slightly less performance then my mk3 1.4 and being more economical
-
just had a look at the spec of the 6n2 and they are very heavy for a small car!! only like 30kg lighter than a mk3 :lipsrsealed:
-
67kg less then a mk4.
1.4 polo is just about more bhp per ton then 1.6 mk4 golf
And people say they handle better
