Title: Auto Locking Doors
Post by: edition_30 on 05 May 2009, 17:33
I'm sure that my doors used to lock automatically after I removed the key from the ignition and left it unlocked for a minute or so.. lately it has not been doing this.. any ideas on how to re activate.. I gave tried looking on the convenience menu but cant see anything

I thought they only locked automatically if you unlock the car, but then dont open a door for a minute or so, it then auto re-locks....
Never thought it locked when you remove the key from the ignition, as it wouldnt know if anyone was still inside! lol

Unless..............you've been leaving your car unlocked by accident!!!

The car will only auto lock itself if you unlock the car but don't open any doors. It won't auto lock if you have driven if or opended a door then leave it, it will remain unlocked till you lock it.

There is an anti hijack function which I have had turned on via VAGCOM. This auto locks the door when I go over 10mph and will auto unlock the doors when I take the key out the ignition.

Hope this helps.

You can do it using the Highline MFD also.

I couldn't find this option on my 06 GTi could it be it requires a software update before it appears?

My confirmation was better than yours

I guess we will need to agree to disagree, as my confirmation came first, and mine was so well written I didnt even have to write the words "I confirm" in my response.....

lol
;)

However, I guess we can agree on the fact that we've both offerred the OP some confirmation that it can be done..................unless he wants anyone else to confirm it also???

That is true, yours was a lot more subtle - I probably was a little bit patronising

Perhaps though if someone could create a nice youtube video of the whole locking thing happening complete with monotone voice over, that would probably be the idea confirmation

;)

Good idea...................I bet I get my video done before yours.........

[rushes off to grab camera]

i can confirm that the previous confirmations were correct and that you can set the doors to auto lock at a pre-determined speed via the highline computer.

So it can be done via the highline? Can anyone confirm this ? :D

Maybe I wasnt clear enough before, but I can 100% positively confirm that this function can be enabled on the highline.
Although I can confirm that this can be achieved, Im not 100% sure. Hence my confirmation may not be as confirmed as someone else who has also confirmed this confirmation.
I would advise you try the function on your Highline display in order to confirm and come to your own conclusions.
If you dont have Highline, maybe someone else can confirm this for you, like I have just done?

Hope this helps.
If you need any further confirmation, give me a shout.

I have been through all the options on my 2006 highline and cant see the option anywhere!  Which is a shame as would like to enable this option. Is it possible to update the software?
