Can anyone help - basically I have fitted a new door due to rust and did not pay full attention when stripping my old door and I'm now having trouble re-dressing the new door, specifically with the central locking.

I have set up my door as per the link above but on my car i have another bar that falls below the master activator to a black "thing" that has a solenoid/piston type thing with two wires. I do know that this was not secured to the original door and a number of bodged holes roughly where i guess it would sit. The two wires were not wired to anything.
When i purchased the car i did have issued with the central locking but I wondering what this mysterious black box is, is it part of the central locking or could it be some form of after market remote cental locking system?
