Title: Question for the insurance bods!
Post by: RandomJord on 02 May 2009, 23:27
Right i've just had to cancel all my insurance with a certain company because of this....

I have bought a car for my brother to use to learn to drive in. It is my car, i paid for and own it, BUT i want to put his name on the V5 as the keeper.

Now dickheadline wont insure it as they say its his car? even though im insuring it in his name as the main driver, because he's not the registered owner an keeper they wont do it so ive cancelled all my policies with them.

What the hell is there problem? its not like i was putting him on as a named driver to use it all the time. i was trying to do it properly for once!

Anyhelp greatly appreciated cos in the meantime its insured on my company policy an he can drive it through some special learner add on insurance type thing tht costs me £80 a month! an when he passes his test that add on insurance is no longer valid.

Cheers

Jords

Bell let you insure a car in your name if you're not the owner/keeper (can't remember which), they're also jolly spiffing for new drivers if you stick older people on as named drivers

are you saying jord that you want to register the car in his name or yours as the owner? i had a similar problem with directline as i wanted to get insured a few years back on my old mans car as the main driver but they werent happy as the logbook had his name as the owner and wanted it to be changed to my name.
