Hi all,
I've only just joined this morning but have been looking in since buying my 16v earlier this year.
Short version of the long story.... Whilst attempting to protect myself from recession I decided to buy a GTI 16v to do all of my work commuting.
I got what I think is a bargain and the car has since provided 3000+ trouble free miles bar one incident.
I have very recently acquired an 8v gti in the same colour as a donor car.
I know the interior is interchangable across the range but what about the engine parts?
Specifically:
Standard Air box?
Belt tensioner pulley?
Exhaust?
Standard suspension?
Thanks for looking!!
Regards

The standard suspension will switch over but it is pointless fitting it as it is crap to be honest, if you going to the hassle of changing it then fit a cheap set of coilovers.
The rest of the parts are different I believe.

the 16v uses a larger exhaust bore so wouldnt advise using an 8v one, airbox is going to be wrong(theres 3 differnt air boxes for the 8v alone...)

Thanks for responding.
Thats a shame more bits arent interchangeable.

Although the name suggests that the 16v just has 8 move "valves" its actually a completly different engine. So unfortunatly it wont be.
But everything outside of the engine bay you can swap about as much as you like.

Thanks buddy.
Just so you all know I'm breaking up the car I've just brought.
