Title: HOW DO I KNOW IF MY MAF IS FAULTY?
Post by: hicksy13 on 01 May 2009, 22:12
MY CAR HAS STARTED RUNNING PORLEY WITH LACK OF POWER .
I SESPECT MY MAF IS AT FAULT BUT AM UNSURE AS I HAVE ONLY HAD THE GOLF 2 WEEKS AND IT WAS FINE WHEN I GOT IT
I HAVE CLEANED THROTLE BODY , PLUGS ,  DIZZY CAP (NEWISH ONE ON THERE) ROTOR ARM.
I TOOK THE MAF OF AND SPRAYED IT WITH WD40 AND IT RAN AND WENT A LITTLE BETTER FOR A SHORT TIME!
IT IS A HITACHI MAF
1995 2.0 8V GTI

Could be a lot of things,  that ECU blocked code is the imobiliser kicking in which can be caused by using a key with no chip.. or just a one off..?  Anyway i think youy might have to look into things like relays, coolent temp sensor etc.. even vac leaks can do it.
