Title: Full service + cambelt

Obviously it will vary from place to place but how much is the above going to set me back, just brought a 1996 gti 16v and want to get it done, live in plymouth

im pasying £150 in a week or so for my service, (and its a good one, by a vw approved place, VW Conduit, Mindlands)

cambelts a hour and a bit work providing the allen key bolts come off the bottom pulley, i paid 40 quid for a change and 40 quid for a gates powergrip cambelt kit.

ok thanks for the replies, did you order the cambelt online? i've looked on ebay but cant really find much anyone got a good site?

I didnt fully trust myself to do the cambelt and forked out just under £140 for the cambelt and tensioner to be changed (including parts obviously) on my valver.

you can get parts online from

why not get yourself a haynes manual and do the service yourself?
save money and its really not that hard 2 do  :smiley:
