i heard the R20 is a load of bullsh!t.
-
Yeah i read that in PVW. they said VW told them

If it is then VW are going to miss a trick in the hot hatch market, people seem to like their extreme hatches at the moment. Whilst VAG engines are very tuneable the others are making them quick out of the box with a cheaper initial outlay for the car.
I understand they want the GTI to be more of an all rounder but they definately need a more hardcore alternative so I'm sure they have something up their sleeve considering the black hole size parts bin they have access to. Also a few mules have been doing the rounds so I expect something to pop up soon.

I'm 99% sure the R20 will be built but it's a shame it's such a dull looking car to start with. Initially I liked the MKVI but the more I see on the roads the more mundane they look. The DRL's being so far inboard and not LED aslo look gash. Hopefully the R20 will look the business but I'm not confident.
I'm hoping to borrow a MKVI GTi sometime soon for a review for TorqueVW.com which should be fun!

Be good to read that mate, make sure you switch all the gizmos off and give it a spirited thrashing. One thing that wasn't made very widely known about the mk5 was the savage lift off oversteer. Curious to see if they have altered the rear geometry.

bastard!
swap the engine with your raddos 16v, they will never know

Well I've emailed VW Uk and I'm waiting to hear back..

Are you registered with their media dept? worth doing as you get nice goodies every now and then along with gettting cars off them.
-
No but I shall get on the case!

Might as well mate. You have published work so I can't see any reason why they wouldn't add you. Certainly ease the process of getting a press car.

Humm tried doing it online and they need a press card number. Best get myself a press card then!
