looking at getting a solid front engine mount.
anyone got one?
i heard very good things about the bbm ones, get them from g-werks for £79.99
worth it?
cheers :)

I have had one and it is great for getting all the powerdown to the wheels. Be prepared though to replace parts more often as the extra stress will shake everything like nuts! Well worth it though imo.
-
ideal cheers m8. if it helps get power down, im all in. not too bad of a price. cheaper than a thought for an engine mount from BBM tbh.

how bad it vibrates the car depends on what bushes the front subframe has. rubber bushes then you will barely notice it, poly bushes and you get a bit of vibration through the pedals etc. its not that bad really. it gets a lot worse when you uprate the gbox and rear mounts!
id start using loctite on all the bolts though! put lots on the solid mount bolts

running a few polybushes on the front, wishbones and arb, not subframe mounts or rear/box mounts though. loctite ftw is it? sounds like a plan, dnt want bolts falling off lol.
cheers :)

yep loctite is gooood. id suggest poly bushing the subframe as well, it sharpens the front up a treat
-
cool, thanks for your help. will need to grab some loctite and i wil order the BBM mount after the bank holiday.

I've been thinking about fitting a Vibratechnics front engine mount before I put my 4 branch manifold on. Wpuld you recomened a solid one instead?
-
im trying to find out really. BBM one is cheaper i think. looking at the above comments, i'd say the solid mount was better, but it needs the correct prep to ensure it works well - i.e. loctite.
i've got a bbm on the way, should be fitted as soon as it arrives, so will post up when i have tested it.

suspension makes a difference as well I think. my mates abf was more rattly at idle than mine, we both had 16v/g60 rear mount + bonded rubber gearbox & bbm solid front, and both had oem subframe bushes. only difference was I have a gsf lowering kit, he had coilovers. though maybe my subby bushes were worse than his

i changed at the last minute and for an alternative. talking to this guy who makes them. looking at the stats, they seemed pretty solid, and at £40, seem like a good deal. he did say you feel some vibration though. reckon its worth it after researching it. guy sells them on ebay.
he does all sorts of custom mounts, good stuff.

Thought I'd bring this thread back to life lol.
I'm fed up with the solid mount and going to try a standard front mount.
Seen this on ebay though:

Mmmm that's what I was thinking. Just my car is a daily and do a fair amount of miles and haven't got time to check for loose bolts all the time. This has caused most of my problems I have had and I'm fed up lol.
Might just grab a used standard mount again, can't remember the difference lol.
