have a omex shift light with 12v earth and ignition inputs . where can i put the ignition wire ? usually goes to the coil , but i have a coil pack . golf driver with 1.8 8v abs engine . any help would be appreciated thanks

Not very helpful, but..
What's wrong with a) looking at the rev counter, or, b) listening to the engine
:undecided:
-
could just stick it to the ignition live on any of the dash stuff, eg the headunit.
But seriously, WHY have you bought a shift light?
When you get to 7k stop, but seriously, its best to just change gear about 5-6k, not redline it.
-
Maybe he wantz 2 fit one of dem proppa safe rev counterz dat dey hav in da fast n furious innit Mike

Whats a shift light? lol

limiter comes in at 6000 rpm , and its easy to hit when you are paying attention to the road and not the rev counter . i was just asking a genuine question . would have prefered a nice answer , rather than critsism . thanks anyway though

No probs, we all have our own opinions!

I gave you the answer. I would put the ignition live to one of the things that comes on with the key, eg headunit.
-
how will the headunit power source know what revs im doing ?
-
thought you just wanted a live feed? lol
-
has 12v , earth . and then a ign terminal , guessing that would go to the coil toget the rpm signal . as i have a coilpack , i dontknow where to connect that wire ?
-
mate just go buy an automatic if you cant drive...
-
You can connect to the ecu output for the rev counter.
Or give omex a ring and they will advise. 01242 260656

are you doing track days then sport.. or just thrashing the bi(http://)tch every which way but loose?
-
i have done some time trials on the isle of wight its on every month . had a 1.4 golf to rag around . but upgraded to 1.8 , but this golf i have now is a bit 2 shiny for it lol . want to do some track days looks quite fun but if the car breaks at the track its a long walk home lol

i am on the 'don't understand why you are doing this mod' side of things though I am afraid... I could understand if it was a beast of a car but its only a 1.8 mk3... still, whatever floats your boat... it'll be pretty I guess.. I would have thought the car screaming 'CHANGE FCUKING GEAR NOW!' would have been a good clue to dropping the clutch?
hope you get it sorted ok
