Title: VW BORA! ANYGOOD??
Post by: DANNYGCL on 30 April 2009, 12:15
As a future idea, how good are the VW Bora 1.9TDI's in terms of quality & the usual reliability and are they quick off the mark

I think they look fine. A MK4 with a bigger boot

My Dad has had two and maintians they are among the best cars he's ever had. This coming from a man who's had a Lotus Elan, Lotus Cortina, Saab 900 Turbo, Alfa Sud and a MKIII Golf VR6.

I would say that's a glowing endorsement. He's had a 110 TDI and is currenlty running a 130 TDI.

110 130 and 150 AFAIK. When you go look at any it'll say in the inside cover of the book and on a sticker somehwere on the car.

Am getting a Bora later this year - gonna go for a TDi 130 Highline with all the toys and full leather. I like the look of them - kind of more chunky and angular than a Mk4, and cheaper too. Golf GT Tdi 130 is insurance group 13; the Highline is group 8. They're also not as sought after as the Golfs so they're generally a bit cheaper; also less likely to have been ragged about and abused - a lot were fleet cars so serviced as per the book.

They did a 90 BHP base model, then the 110 which replaced the 115 (I think), the 130 and the 150 if you can find one. This link should help you
