hi any idea on how much to have a front wheel bearing changed on my vr6 golf thanks
-
At a garage then you'll be looking at around £250+ depending upon the garages rates.
Gotta do mine on the GTi - did attempt to do it myself but the hub was seased on solid even when whacked with a club hammer
-
Are you sure of that ? Bearing in itself is only £13ish at GSF.

To remove and refit the hub on the car and press the bearing??
-
yes thats it thought it was a bit steep
-
I can't see any garage doing it that cheap, if they do they can fix my car
-
Ive just been quoted £80 today from a back street garage near me.
-
I would say £60-80 is a fair price.... I paid £30 at mates rates to get my hub and bearing done
-
I would say using a vw specialist in Surrey, the price would be more like £150-200 all in.
Just as well i've got my own press
-
last wheel bearing i paid for to be fitted at garage was £80 quid wouldnt pay ne more
-
Cost about £40 up here, the old North South divide ey!
-
Just dropped mine off at my local mechanic.
Price : £45 + £13 for the brearing kit at GSF.
Methinks you should find another garhaage

Paid 60 last week from my local.
-
Had one done for £80 2 months back
thought it was steep given the price of the bearing but seems average now
-
I need to move then!
A couple of years back i got quotes of £25+VAT just to press the old bearing out and press in the new supplied one, half hours labour i believe.
-
Between £60 and £80 would be the going rate to be honest.
-
With or without supplying the bearing kit?
I find it interesting that alot of you think what you paid is steep, it is a reasonably involved job.
-
I paid 45 and supplied the bearing kit which was 13 at GSF.
