Title: Respray pirces?
Post by: richard ellison on 02 August 2004, 19:36
Just been thinking about the option of a future respray- as mine WILL need one in years to come. The .last time it wasnt done very well.

How much am i looking for to be sprayed in a lighter blue? I was thinking maybe R32 blue, or slightyly lighter.

Does it make it any cheaper that my car is currently (atlantic) blue?

How much is labour if i bought the paint seperatly.

I also wanted to get the rubber strips removed from the sides, the holes filled...

Thanks

Rich  :)

Prices vary wildly depending on who you go to, they'd probably remove the strips and fill the holes as a freebie, again depending on who you go to.
As far as buying your own paint, don't bother, it's only a fraction of the cost of the entire job and you have no comeback if the paint reacts badly or starts to peel within a few weeks.
If you're in the b'ham area drop me a pm and you can pop into my brothers bodyshop for a quote.
Chris.

shame- i live in the nw nr chester.

Unless he gives me a ridiculously low quote (<?500) its not really worth the travelling.

do the paint jobs vary massively?

how much am i looking for to get a decent job done? ?700?

i havent had a rspray quote for my cab for less than 1500 quid but that included some bodywork.  having the swage lines filled would be very cheap as its only filler.   if u go ahead with the respray rich,  i reckon having the side repeaters removed and the bodykit smoothed looks pretty bling too   ;) 8)

im paying 1k for mine. I needed alot of prep work and a few bits modded. Its comming out today and will post some pics of the job.

Ive seen some cheap resprays and they dont last very long.

about 700-1000 quid for yours?
ohh and blue is the best colour. just a shame my respray has come out a darker shade of blue from the original as it faded over time but it still looks good 8)

?700 your be lucky unless it is a friend!

With paint jobs the jobs varry loads, it depends on what sort of a job you want and how good the sprayer is.

Also a colour change doesn't make a different in price it is what parts you want painted. i.e. door shuts to match, under the bonnet etc....

There is a vw body shop I use down here, for a Rallye we had a full bare metla respray, new cells fitted etc.... and a colour change, so door shuts teh whole lot it cost ?2500  :o

Then the same place did my Limited, they did the whole car, welded some bits (from old roof rails) sorted the few little bits and that was only ?1100

A lot of it is down to preperation, and the time it takes.

I have seen some bad jobs with runs etc all over the place so go by word of mouth.
