Post by: tobybrennan on 28 April 2009, 22:11
well i went to test drive a golf mk3 1.6GL

and there was a rattle when the car slowly turned right, it sounds like the disc brake is loose!
but its not

the owner of the dealership said something about a cv joint? does anyone know anything that may help?

You sure it was a rattle and not a click?

The passenger side CV joint on my 1.4 was buggered and it used to click when going round a right hand corner, would cost about 15 quid for a new CV joint + fitting costs. I was gunna get a second hand driveshaft from the scrappy for 20 quid and fit it myself.

Although on my dads old Mk3 1.8 GL, when driving down the road, the brake pads used to rattle because the retainer strips were missing.
