Title: VAG diagnostic software
Post by: philip_felop on 02 August 2004, 16:11
my mk3 8v seems to be abit low on power - and am abit concerned it might be the ECU. have read about the VAG-COM software and want to know if this is a good place to start for fault diagnosis?

cheers in advance

Vag com is an excellent buy, better then paying a garage 30/40 quid a time for a scan. helps rule out things.

Can be bought from

http://www.ross-tech.com/

http://www.vag-com.co.uk/

You can download the trial software for free if you have the diagnostic cable.

Better still if you know someone local with it.

The VAG COM software sounds really good, but can you get away with a cheaper interface like this one on eBay for ?40
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=30921&item=7914307246&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
as opposed to forking out ?140??
does any one use this?
thanks

"Immediately the mechanic tells you nothing more of the horse" ;D ;D

That must be the German translation of "your car is fixed"

For ?40 this is worth a stab.  With the VAG-COM shareware programme i guess it would work ok.
