Title: MK2 GTI brake discs on a MK3?
Post by: Shady Pioneer on 26 April 2009, 19:07
Hello boys and girls, I don't venture into here too much but wanted to ask something.

I have a MK3 GL, 4 stud, was wondering if it's:

A. Possible to use the MK2 GTI discs on the MK3
B. Is it worth it?

Reason I ask is looking at mine, they are a bit puny lol!

If you measure them, I think they are 239mm if so your only real option is to conver to 256mm late 16v mk2 set up.

Google "8v 16v brake conversion". There's also a thread on here that I started not too long ago, assuming by those rims, you can put upto 256mm brakes, if you wanted bigger (288mm, or something ridiculous like the 305mm off Cupra Leon's) then you'll need bigger rims, 17"+

I'll look into further during the summer, would like bigger brakes at least as mine are sad lol! Mind you they are solid, can stop very easily and quickly. No lock up either even without ABS.

To be honest they might be small but you don't need bigger really unless you going to up the power.
