Title: What is it ???

When i was taking off the front end of the mk2 (GTi) the other day i noticed on the drivers side chasis leg below the aribox a small green tube just a bit bigger than an AA battery with two wire's coming out of each end... or there should be, the bottom wire had snaped off. What is it  :undecided:

Think you mean that coil thingy thats rivited to the chassis leg.

Dipped beam coil i think they call it?
Solder it back on or bin it if you have an uprated headlamp loom

yeah dim dip, follow the wires from it to a 2 pin plug and disconnect. not required for mot or by law, and the wires often rub thru on the chassis leg and cause the headlight loom to melt.
