Title: engine gets warm quick

got a mk4 1.8t aum,from cold it gets up to 90 within 5-10mins and after driving for say an hour or more the engine smells hot ,doesnt lose any water,im thinkin it might be a broken waterpump prop?

Getting upto temp quick is a good thing, could be because of warmer weather. aslong as it isnt going over half way on the temp gauge and youre not getting high oil temps, its all good. check the fan is kicking in when it gets to temp, and it stays there.

fan kicks in ok,felt the hoses after a little run today and the bottom one off of the rad doesnt seem to be gettin as hot as the top one?

could be your thermostat then. if the fan is kicking in, and the bottom hose is still a bit cold maybe the thermo isnt opening up completely. new therostats only a fiver, easy enough to change.
