Does anyone know how to lock the car manually without having the proxy alarm on!??
Its sumin I don't want to do but just incase! (meaning I have a neighbour with a very loud exhaust driving past my car at times and its set it off & a thunder storm last week too)
-
Not sure about the proxy alarm but the button on the inside of the drivers door pillar turns off the interior alarm.
-
Pretty sure, if you press the lock remote twice it also knocks off the interior sensors and the deadlocks too.
-
^^It should do, yes.
Alternatively, you could get your dealer to change the sensitivity of it.
-
Perfect, just tested it! cheers guys! Did refer to the manual but no luck.

Is that really what pressing it twice does???
I thought I was alarming it

Me too! I've always pressed lock twice because that was how to turn the immobiliser on with one of my old cars. Have I in fact been leaving it less protected than it should be all this time? Is the above really true???
-
I believe so! lock it twice (manually and remotly) and it stops the red L.E.D flashing which in terms switches the proxy off. Just tried it.
-
Yup its true - with my old car it was click once to lock, click twice to deadlock.
But with the GTi you click once to lock and alarm, click twice to make it less secure!!!
The 2 clicks is supposed to be used when you want to lock the car from outside, but there are still people inside. For example, when I have my family in the car and I fill up with petrol, I tend to lock the car when I go to pay. With the 2 clicks, I can lock the car, but if anyone needs to get out of the car, they still can without setting off any alarms etc.

The wife has been doing this for months. On on her old car it was one click to lock. The second one set the deadlocks and alarm. Her new one is one click to set all. So when I saw her clicking it a couple of times (and once for good luck )  I had to tell her..."Its in the manual". "Buts thats why I have you dear" :lipsrsealed:........ RTFM Mrs:grin:

It's in the manual? Maybe I should start reading it. Only had the car for a month and have spent all that time just working out how the satnav and audio work. Just a question of priorities...
