Does anyone know if the gearbox in a passat gli 1990 will fit,and is geared the same as a box in a 1990 golf gti 1800 8 valve ?
Cheers

Doesn't the engine fit 'inline' on the Passat and therefore the gearbox will sit in the tunnel?
Golf engine is fitted transverse and so the gearbox is fitted on the end.
That being the case, they will be completely different.

No, the Passat 1990 is a tranverse engine.
But i think the Passats use cable change gearboxs with hydraulic clutch, so no it won't fit the Golf.

Must be the older Passat's that were 'inline', cheers '6.

yep the model before was an inline engine ;)
