Title: Pressed plates
Post by: Trickyboy on 23 April 2009, 16:42
Am thinking of getting legal pressed plates as my first small mod, was just wondering how much hassle they cause with the old bill? I understand they won't be able to do anything coz they're legal but dont wanna be stopped all the time, in other words, is it worth it?

As long as they are of legal size/colour and the letters/numbers are all correctly sized i cant see a problem. I had some metal pressed std plates fitted to my old S2000 and never had a problem with the old bill.

A lot more value for money imo, normal plates are made outta rubbish materails these days so they go crappy after a few years, pressed plates will do you for a lot longer. Shame things aren't over engineered anymore, the plates on some of my Golfs have been like 20+ years old!

I got steel pressed plates from the "plateman" with the D mark as well. I went to the police station to ask if they where ok (i say police station Traffic HQ near Garth Mountain) and he took both plates, come back 5 mins later and said the guys cant find anything wrong but wait there. They asked me to put them on and to park infront of one of the Volvo's. The ANPR picked it up fine. There is a "DIN" marking on the back and on the front. It reflects in the camera flash leaving only the letters show up like a sore thumb.

Best go with the British numerics tho incase, i just find it hard to part with mine, they look awesome  :smug:
