Title: Insurance Mod question on mk6 GTi
Post by: VWKev on 23 April 2009, 10:44
The mk6 GTi comes with 17's as standard, when going through the 'extras' for the car 18's can be put on them, is this still listed as standard, or will Insurance companies see this as a mod  ?

It isn't classed as a mod as it is direct from the manufacturer but they may well only replace upto standard level if you claim.  Worth asking the question.

Generally if your car was fitted with something from the options list available from the dealer when new, you can claim it back from the insurance company if stolen/damaged and your car is deemed unmodified

But, if they're dealer-fit instead of factory-fit, then I believe it is a mod.
