Got a few quotes for various parts around the car, what do you think, good or bad?
Front end including bonnet, front bumper, front grill and left and right front wings - £325 (this includes removing the dents and scratches which are all pretty severe).
Rear quarter and tailgate scratch and rust = £195
Passenger front door and blend = £185
Or all of above and drivers door for £800.
-
To be honest that is about right, I was quoted £350 last year for just the 4 wings.
The big question you have to ask yourself really is to do it or leave it, I never had mine done in the end it was 11 years old and I did not think it was worth it, yes you could spend £800 but unless you keeping the car for say another 5 years I would think long and hard, it will add very little or nothing to value.
-
My whole car should have cost 1200 so yes those prices sound fair.
But didnt you ask this already?

Don't think I did? I think I asked for prices that I should be looking at, but that was a fair while ago...sorry to offend you oh mighty Len

get a room you two!
shady... if you are doing all this your car will end up looking like a patchwork quilt... is it not better to save your pennies through the summer and opt for a complete respray.. that is... if you really want to go ahead with this respray thing as this is big monies...

I know what you mean bud, I'm thinking of just replacing the bits that are bad atm with replacement ones when I can mainly the bonnet and passenger wing for now, as it'll be cheaper too.

christ.. you a mod in here too now?
i am holding off from doing mine as I want to do the respray when I get a daily and save the golf for shows etc otherwise a decent paint job will just get trashed within weeks
also looking for a decent paintshop as the one I used to used went under... they weren't too business minded and got screwed by the insurers

No not a mod here, just somehow have the power to modify posts in this thread? I dunno lol!
I know what you mean, thinking about it, I may as well just leave the MK3 paint until I a new car, and make it like a proper project (paint, brakes, engine etc etc). Do what you're doing keeping it for shows.

thats up to you... but I will only spend any serious wedge once I have a daily... imo you'll never get a car truly mint until you take it off the road and not be chucking miles and miles on it everyday

Didn't realise how expensive respray was. Just phoned around to get a door resprayed, looking at about £150 + VAT, was thinking it'd be less than £100
-
My thoughts were same as Guy's! Why I went for a full respray! For a few more hundred quid you should get whole car done!
Why I said the deja vu thing coz thought I said same thing there!
And LOVE is a bit strong Shady!
Naughty mod!
But funny!
