I'm looking at doing a new boot build in the golf.
I was thinking of putting my subs in a sealed box but can't fit them all on the largest face (top). Would I be able to put two facing the boot & two facing the back seats. Or would it be better to just run 2 ported?
Help I'm stuck with indecision!

ive got 3 in sealed box, each with own enclosure, look at the subs specs should tell ya what space they need :)

depends what type of bass you want bud.....sple = ported.....SQ= sealed....what type of music are you looking to play?
If its spl you re looking for hten go for the 12's ported make sure you get the correct port size and tune the box to around 50hz its easy to find some box diagrams and make your own.
Otherwise if you are looking for tight punchy bass fo for 2 x10's sealed box.

I've got 4x 12"powerplants. I did build a 11cuft wall in my fiesta van tuned to 30ish. I've got 2x fusion monos with 1100wrms each at 1 ohm.
I was going to part wall the golf but have decided against it. I've got the space to do 2x 12s ported, tuned to 30-35 (how I like it) or 4 sealed.
The subs are 500w each so thinking 4 sealed off 2k would be nice, or 2 ported off 2k but I know what I'm like & I'll end up killing 2 ported with over double the power.
I doesn't have to be sealed for sq. I've heard some awesome sounding ported boxes! It's all in the build!
So mine will probably sound pap! LOL.
-
really is up to you but 4 would be mighty heavy!
poted boxes do definatly give louder bass but i find the quality personally is not as good and under high power they tend to flap as they dont have as much pressure behind them, for a real grumble and harsh bass its gotta be sealed depends what you want tho!

give it the bandpass treatment with 2 twelves...
-
I was thinking that but never built a bandpass enclosure before.
I'm in the middle of fitting the batteries & amps in the boot. Then I'll see what space is left after that.
-
there is a program called harris tech, bass box pro, very handy tool for building boxes if you can obtain it from somewhere do it, its expensive to buy!
i would build around the box, then see what room you have lol...
its the box that will give you the right sound!
-
Yeah I know, but there's no point having a box with no room for batteries or amps. lol.
-
well, amps are pretty slim anyway, and i dont think you`ll need extra batteries just for two twelves... just a heavy duty one should do the trick imo..
-
I've got 2 1kw monos. That's 200a maximum draw. 1 battery & standard alt is know where near enough. It's not the subs, it's the amps that need the power.
-
indeed, right you are...
i have a bandpass with two tens in atm and to be honest theres not alot of room left. 12"s should most def fill the boot.
i take it its spl youre after then..

Well it was in the festa, but I'm thinking more SQL maybe. I honestly don't know what I'm going to do. So many ideas floating about at the mo.

not really gonna get SQL with bandpass anyway... a hard bass indeed though..
i suppose your original idea was the best. just baffle off the box thats all...
