Well, Had the golf 3 weeks ish now and noticed it has covers on the bumper under the headlights. the previous owner said they were just covers. After having the car on a ramp today I found a pipe blanked off in the n/s front bumper and had a look and saw it was from the headlight washer so I reconnected it and it started leaking - turns out the washer on that side is cracked  anyway, the o/s one is still connected so why doesn't it work? I have checked the fuse and its ok, Where is the pump so I can check if its getting power? and anyone know a cheap place to get a replacement washer thingy for the n/s?
-
pump is located on the front of the windscreen washer bottle and simply pushes into the bottle
think a new one is about £40 or more mind!
-
is it different pump for the windscreen washers? how exactly do the headlamp washers operate? I have tried ign on headlamps on and operating screenwash.

yes two seperate pumps - one at the back for the windscreen and the other at the front for the headligh washers
not sure how they operate as i don't have them but i think they work every 1 in 5 washes of the screen :undecided:
-
ok, think I know which pump it is then
-
The headlight washer jets only activate when you have your lights switched on. If that helps?
-
yeah tried that, think i'll connect a test lamp to the plug on the pump and see what happens.

Its meant to be 1 in 5 but mine has mind of their own, sometimes they go everytime, sometimes 1 in 10. I think the outside temperature has something to do with it as well. and you dont want them to work if you like your car to be clean
-
Mine spray the lights every time
-
It does say in the handbook 1 in 5, but in winter it was every time, now it hardly does it on mine :undecided:
-
can I make them operate with vag com?

as do mine

finally got round to checking the pump, put a live feed to it and it works fine.
So, I think I have checked the right fuse, is there a relay for them somewhere?
