hi all again lol what sort of difference does a remap make to the mpg of the gti havnt decided which map to go for yet edging towards bluefin as can turn on off easily and clears flashdrive etc, anyway back to subject just wandering what effect these have on economy mine normaly does just over 30mpg when driving sensible-ish lol cheers again
ps i no post should be in remap section but only related to mk5 so stuck it on here

Provided you drive in a similar manner after the remap then you'll more than likely see a better mpg figure than when stock.
-
cheers bacillus thats ok then was just a little worried about that especialy with fuel on the up again slowly
-
As Bacillus said, if you drive your car as normal your mpg is slightly better... I'd like to see you try and control your right foot after a remap though
-
My mpg got worse on all accounts after the remap. Even when i drive sensibly, i tend to get about 3mpg less than i used to get. very surprising considering all the positive comments about better mpg after a remap on here.
I'm not doubting the experience of others, but just to give you another honest viewpoint.
I'm Revo'd by the way!
-
I get about 2mpg less than I did before Superchips Bluefin remap - but that is down to the fact I am enjoying it far more
I now get 27 'ish as opposed to just under 30mpg.
On a motorway run when I am being good it is about the same - certainly not better though.

Hmm, I would have a close look at your PCV as it may be leaking...
-
so then so8 what is your oppinion of the bluefin map then as a whole ie the instalation process and the noticable gains etc as bluefin is the way im thinking of going to be honest, cheers, MATT

The bluefin is great if the cars still under warranty, but it does take around 15mins to swap between std & remap. Plus they're the only company that offer a warranty on your engine if it goes pop! They've been doing them discounted recently ... Bluefin for £450 or so instead of £600+ before xmas!
-
cheers ed30dsg bluefin it is then i rekon mine is the normal 200ps gti still with a year vw warranty so bluefin sounds best to me and the best price ive found is £390 all in

Yeah its been checked and all is fine
If i am just cruising on the motorway I'll still get 39-40mpg, and normally about 30 around town, but on average it was about 3mpg higher before the remap.

Are you sure? Seems a bit too kind of them..
Revo also have lifetime warranty on their software but does not include engine damage arising from improper use.

Yes!

A lifetime warranty on s/w - WTF is that all about?

£390? Where was that from? Make sure it's a bonafide Superchip dealer.
Also don't buy a Bluefin off ebay that came off another golf gti as it won't work on your car and superchips won't entertain you.

Yeah that looks similar to the Revo warranty:
www.revotechnik.com/products/warranty.aspx
I think that they will both only call it a warranty claim if the failure on the car has been directly caused by the software. Also it assumes that you have followed their guidelines to set the remap up. i.e. In the case of Revo with a Select Plus switch, I doubt they would cover you if you had a mechanical issue from setting the Revo to 10-10-10 without fully consulting the user handbook, and doing relevant data logging.
-
I disagree, the Revo warranty specifically states that they don't cover non-REVO products i.e. any VW parts.
Revo Technik offers a lifetime warranty on all of its software, and 12 months warranty on SPS devices. This warranty does not cover any non-Revo Technik products, expenses, or damage arising from improper use.
Don't get me wrong, I've used REVO on previous cars and their SPS3 dongle is great, but their maps do have a tendancy of bringing the boost in abruptly (which makes the car feel faster but it is not good for traction!).
If you just want a stage 1 remap and have a warranty then Bluefin is a sensible option.

LOL, I agree with that wholeheartedly!

i've got bluefin on my ed30 and am really pleased with it. i know tgere have been a lot of negative comments posted in the past, but i've had nothing but great service from superchips. i'm well pleased with the performance, but dont know how it compares to revo, would like to have a try in one to compare. if you go for either i'm sure you'll be impressed with the gains
-
I went out in a bluefin GTI last night actually for the first time. Compared with my Revo stage 2, it was a very smooth power delivery. It didn't quite feel as quick as mine, but not too far off.
My boost comes in all at once, and unless the road is bone dry and the tyres have enough temperature the car has zero traction in 1st, 2nd and a little bit of 3rd.
-
That price of £390 was from jkm performance seems like a preety reputable place aswell, cheers for all your comments and advice guys really appreciate it honestly and my mind is now set on bluefin for certain, just dont no what to buy 1st 18" monza's or remap lol :undecided:
