Cheers Rhyso, are you fitting them yourself? is it easy? a mate seemed to think they were then another mate said you need to pop the ball joint out which is a pain

got one of my engineers fitting them FOC  :lipsrsealed:  he's an ex-Land Rover fitter - he had a quick look yesterday and the only real problem he sees is that the drive shaft is in the way of the main ball joint nut

i'll update later as he normally finds a way around such problems :afro:

you can leave the ball joints in but it depends how good your existing ones are

Ha, I need all those above doing  :lipsrsealed:

The belt takes 10 mins, can you change the pulley  :undecided: or do you have to buy a new alternator?

CV gaitor about an hour

I thought about doing it myself, but not sure how to remove the pulley, and then tighten the belt, i'm sure there will be a tensioner but damned if i can find it

on mine you can see the tensioner at the top of the engine, when the engines is running it should be moving backwards and forwards very quick
not sure how it comes off, Rich may have a link somewhere
oh and the pulley costs around £20

You'll have to hold the tensioner back and put something through to lock it off, I used a bolt which when I removed it, it was s shaped

what a bearing puller?

Post by: Horney on 21 October 2009, 17:38
Is that what's needed? They just said special tool and I was in boots so didn't have time to discuss exactly what. If it's a bog standard bearing puller than that's cool as I can pick one of those up for a few quid and do it meself.

The actual Laser one is on the bay for about £12. Gonna ring my local autofactors in the morning as they stock laser tools and see how much they can do one for.
