Title: Rev counter, coil and relays = 8v mk2 (1991)
Post by: Maltman on 21 April 2009, 08:57
While browsing in order to try to find a solution to a 'rev counter not working' problem - I came across mention of 'checking the relays' above the fuses.

Does one of the relays have any connection (?) with the rev counter?... and if so which one.

My car has an aftermarket coil fitted... probably from Halfords by the label. Is this 'non-original' part a possible reason the rev counter does not work

Thanks.

M.

Possibly leads on coil wrong way round. Had same problem on my Mk1 Scirocco.

non of the relays have anything to do with the rev counter, it gets a feed direct from the coil via the fusebox

Thanks for replies... but the one above I'm really curious about.....

Would the car still start/run if the coil leads were the wrong way round?

All fuses checked and are OK -
