Title: VR6 Alternator on a 1.8t AUM engine
Post by: LazyLunatic on 20 April 2009, 20:42
need an alternator for my AUM and wondered if the vr6 alternator will bolt on? i heard that it mayb be possible, but just want to check before i go spending.

i know the vr6 ones are 120amp, which is a good thing as i was looking to upgrade to a 120amp anyway.

thanks :)

the vr alternator has the same mountings as the later MK3 ones that have a seperate tensioner wheel, although the pulley is different.
so if you could find one of those lyin about could try it and see? I imagine even if the vr one went on you would need to swap the pulley over anyway?
