hi there i am thinknig of upgrading the engine in my 8v digiwas just wondering what the easiest engine upgrade would be and what am i lookin at to be spending on it. thanks all

Easiest conversion is putting a 2.0 bottom end on for a bit more torque
Bottom end should set you back no more than £100 but then you will need to budget for a top end gasket set, coolant, oil and filter at the very least
If you wanted to carry on with this engine you are obviously looking at cylinder head options, cams, exhausts manifolds, lightened flywheels
A decent spec 2.0 8v should see you at approx 140bhp
Alternatively for a little more work you could drop an abf in there and have 150bhp out of the box with more potential for upgrades in the future
All depends on how handy you are with a spanner, budget and time constraints really

That's a bit misleading, a normal MK2 1.8 8v is only 112 bhp, the 2.0l block won't add 28 bhp, especially on an old worn head.
That aside, the above is true. But as always, if you already want more power, don't waste your cash on a small upgrade to a slow engine. Just put an ABF in there and then you've got a solid base for expansion and it won't cost you a fortune.

Thats why i said a decent spec 2.0 8v, as in reworked head, cams etc which was written above where i wrote an approximate figure
