Title: New Lock Set?
Post by: MrSingh on 20 April 2009, 13:06
Hi folks,
Picked up my MK2 last weekend, had a few issues bringing it back, one being... the key snapped in the ignition barrel
Had to butcher the assembly to get the barrel out - so now I have a few options.
1) Get new barrel and keys from VW - end up with 2 different keys for car
2) Get new barrel and keys from VW, and re-tumble(?) the other locks so the new key will fit.
3) Get a new lock set all round - end up with 1 key for car

What do people recommend? My car has central locking - I went to VW and they no longer do a lock set for central locking models, only non-central locking ones. I've seen a few lock sets on ebay, GSF, euro car parts etc, but they seem really cheap (Around £30ish - VW wanted about £120ish for the non-central locking set, for reference).

Cheers,
Daz.
