Title: newbie here first mk2 golf gti

Hi everyone, just a quick word to introduce myself,

My name is kieren i'm from essex, I am buying my first mk2 golf gti 8v tonight. This will be my first project car as always wanted one of these. Any way i'll be posting along the way and i'll get some pics later to start my project thread.

Whats the best way to 180bhp+

Any pointers any one? Anything i can look out for?

welcome.  No pointers for second hand mk2 buying that are different to any other second hand purchase really.  Rot is always going to be the biggest killer, so get in/under etc everything.

To be fair i work in london and listen to about 3 and a half hours of radio 1 a day on my journey so i'm always noticing things like that... damm that radio 1 they have warped my brain  :laugh:

Cheers for all the welcomes peeps, went to look at the car last night, its my mates not sure if i gunna go for it yet as would like one i can get straight on the road and do things as i go and it needs a bit of work doing, any one selling?
