Is there a special way of taking the side lights out or just pull at them?

Get a screwdriver behind them and a bit of levering, they come right off. Put something under the screwdriver though to stop it stratching your paint.

you mean a flat headed driver or a posi drive?
as there is hardly anything to work with mate
-
Flat headed screwdriver works nicely

side lights or wing indicators?

be careful using pliers as you could well snip the wiring loom and fook it right up
