Well, it's one month later and i'm still waiting for the dealers... Just to recap, i signed a purchase order back on the 19th of March for a 3dr in reflex silver on a 56 plate 19k miles FVWSH got a cracking deal too - £12400 and a good part-ex on the mrs lupo, anyways, after sigining the order was told that the car didnt have a log book, wonderful. Not the type of thing you expect from approved used... The dealer still has my £500 deposit and is still waiting for the DVLA to get back to him So one month later and am starting to seriously look elsewhere. Been very reluctant to do so because had such a good deal. Trust me when i say i've been a nightmare fot the last 4 weeks, I JUST WANT MY FEKKIN CAR!!! Anyway, starting to look elsewhere now, was thinking of going higher mileage and saving a bit of cash for a good holiday, bit worried about not getting a warranty though and the confusion with cambelt changing, all the people ive spoken with gti's for sale plead complete ignorance when it comes to the 4 year interval, bit of a problem when the cars you can afford are all between 05 - 06! Any advice would be great, if i'm buying without a warranty should i look out for anything in particular? Anyone had any experience of buying a car without a logbook? Soz for the essay! Cheers.

I wouldnt touch a car without a logbook TBH - whether it was private or from a dealer, so I think you are doing the right thing. Will you get your deposit back though, since you were ready to go ahead but the issue was the dealers fault?
When buying a car with no warranty, I would ensure it has had all of its services. Try get someone who knows about cars, or an AA engineer etc to go take a look over the car.
Depending on the milleage you should check if various work has been done, for example.....
If its a DSG car with just over 40k miles on it - has the DSG oil been changed? Has the cam belt been changed? etc.

19th march
that's a month ago. i know we have had the easter bank holidays but i don't think that's acceptable.
i lost/ misplaced my V5C once when i wanted to sell my car and applied for a new one at DVLA office near me. think it took 2 weeks max for a new one.
if i get a gti, i would budget to get the cambelt done asap if on a 2005 car to be honest

Apparently it's still registered to previous keeper, so dealer contacts DVLA, DVLA contacts previous owner, previous owner does sod all and gets fined, and 4 weeks later im still waiting!
