Can, I find the correct parts...? Can I fcuk!!
This is the part that came out and there are no reference marks or part numbers on it.

And this is the part that I bought using the part number on the post above. 1H1721401

This is obviously the wrong part ad I don´t want to even try to make it fit in case of damaging it and not being able to return it. The slave cylinder I have replaced with no fuss or drama, athough the body of it is alloy rather than steel.
Can anyone identify the 1st photo? It is the master cylinder for my Golf G60 shed. Does anyone recognise it as maybe belonging to another car such as Passat, Corrado, or even another later Golf? If I don't get this done by tomorrow, then I will miss out on the Oxford meet next weekend!
I have had the offending part apart and the bore is very corroded, thus the reason why its knackered.
-
Have you checked at either GSF/ECP or even a main dealer for the part number I listed?
-
GSF is where I originally got a part, but returned it as it was wrong, and the second item photo'd is a ECP item. Main dealer was also a no go.
-
How was the main dealer a no go?
You need to find the right sort of person in a dealer...
I've PMed someone on Classic Audi who might be able to help....
-
try finding a corrado or passat in the breakers?
-
Reply from a dealer contact, when asked for the details, based on the model of car:
Part number 357721401 only left hand drive cars,
checked with VW group, no dealers showing, and no stock at VWuk, also went obsolete 1/09/08
sorry, but if you try some german contacts, it would probably still be available in the Father land
Sorry I can help more, I refer you to my PM from last night.....
You could always convert to cable-actuated clutch. This would mean fitting a standard G2 pedal box and buying about £60-70 of much-easier-to-get-bits to complete the system.
-
other option is swap to the later passat/corrado pedal box and cylinder, though I dont know if its an easy fit in a MK2 G60. I'd assume it is though, unless VW changed the chassis on the rado/passat same time the pedal box changed

Could be a last resort:

Seb (k33p it low). Probably worth sending him a PM actually, might still have it or might be back home, in which case you could ask him nicely if he'll bring you one back (from Germany)

k33pitlow or something, based on Oxford.
Try posting on Dubforce.net also.

Well, I contacted Breeze, audi and they said the part was discontinued as DH had already said. He did give me the OEM part number though along with contact details of another local firm. So I called them and they were very helpfull. They spent some time this morning looking for the part and gave me a ring back about an hour ago saying they had located one. So, fingers crossed, that when I get it tomorrow at mid day, it will be the correct one.
Thanks for your help so far guys. G60's are very nice and all that, but try buying spares for the b@stards!
-
i hope you get it sorted! we must have you at the oxford meet!

Cheer up - you could have a Rallye.....

I nearly did. There was a wreck of one going in Madrid for 1000 euros. When I say wreck, it was not a crashed thing, just another shed like mine was.

Clutch sorted! Jay Motor Components came up trumps and I fitted it today. Now my biting point is far higher than I am used to.
