Title: Are red stripe interiors in mk2s rare at all?? (possibly Recaro??)

I took it to my local VW garage, and I mentioned that it was originally from Portsmouth, and he was like "ahh yea I remember the car, the interior's quite rare"?? I was just wondering if this is true, and how much it's worth roughly??

EDIT: just found an auction on Ebay (was an old one so you'll prob need to sign in to see it), and the guy said that the frames and foam are all stamped Recaro. It's exactly the same as my interior, does this mean it's Recaro??

thats just bog standard interior the recaro is electric and is more bucket shaped. They can fetch £500+. Your looking more £40-£60 for a good set

Most definitely not recaro. And not particularly rare.

Not rare.

Am I right in thinking that its the standard 8v trim, i.e. that 16v got rainbow as standard (or is that only the run out models)?

Thats what I have in my car, but I am looing for a change to either recaro or leather.

Run out on the 8v. I have the same in my GTD. Nice interior though.

Ahh fair, didn't think it'd be particularly rare, though I do really like the pattern, have upgraded to leather now. Checked the base, and, yus, it does have VW stamps rather than Recaro :( would have been a nice suprise

Only on the run-out models (like yours). Probably an option before then.

Only on the run-out models (like yours). Probably an option before then.

Rainbow interior on the 8v only on the run out model which also included tinted rear lights and BBS RA's, the strippy interior on the 8v was just before the run out model and is covered with the same cloth all over including the back of the seat, Recaro version with that stripe pattern are very rare and the last set I saw on ebay went for £850 complete set including door cards.
