Title: Insurance and remap
Post by: jphealy on 16 April 2009, 14:24
Does a remap have much of an effect on your insurance premium?  Does everybody inform their insurance company when they get a remap?  What if you didn't??

If you didn't and you crashed your insurance may be void. It may or may not effect your premium depending on your company!

Is there any way they could tell that the car's been remapped though, even if you did crash?

Only way would be to read your ECU and compare the check sum with a standard ECU.

That or you leave a receipt for the remap.

I got a quote today from admiral to if I was to get remapped. If the power increased by 26% or more they wouldn't insure it. If it increases by 11 to 25% it would be an extra £147. and If I just change the exhaust system its £22.
