I have spent all afternoon tinkering with my 1.8 and its still not running as it should.
The engine is spot on, i know that much but the fuel system is just not having it, When i put my foot down to the floor, the engine makes a nice sucky sucky noise but it doesnt go anywhere fast! its a big fat flat spot! its always done it and its always had one fault which was Air temp sensor, thats been replaced, throttle bodys been stripped cleaned and reassembled, all faults gone but no go.
I have checked for vac leaks and there is nothing i can see, all pipes have been replaced etc.. It seems to be over fueling a lot, the spark plugs were new when i put it all back together and its hardly done 10 miles and they are coverd in carbon build up already, Also when fully pressing the throttle hard from tickover several times it will give a big loud backfire. its had a new lambda sensor as well.
Any ideas before i scrap it?
Thanks.

If its an spi check the "carb" mounting rubber as I have known these to fail and give issues!

Some one mentioned this a while back, i did fit a diffrent one and sealed it but it made no diffrence at all :undecided:

i would check the mounting rubber mount. replaced the gf 1.6 mk2 as that was split.
i normally find with the engine running if you move the air box the engine will
change sound rought.

hm i will check it over again then thanks
