Title: ABF into 16v dizzy question - any other advice welcomed
Post by: topbloke77 on 14 April 2009, 22:20
Greetings.

I am fairly inexperienced at all of this so go easy if this question is silly.

I have the opportunity of buying a 2Ltr ABF. Just the complete block and head with no ancilleries. Does my dizzy from my early 89 16v KR fit?

I have read the sticky abf into 16v but there was no mention.

Any other comments and advice regarding this conversion are welcomed.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the reply.

Am I correct in saying that everything from my KR unit will bolt onto the ABF unit without any issues. (Doubt that with my mechanics skills!)

What should I be buying in terms of Gasket sets for this job?

yep!
gasket sets most of it will be the same between abf and kr, mostly if given the choice you want abf bits but things like upper inlet manifold gasket must be KR.  timing belt bits ABF, also water/pas pump belts depend on what anxilery setup you use, if included use the ABF stuff.

oh and you'll want KR plastic front and thermostat housing flanges, might as well bung a new stat and seal on while you're down there
