hi every one just been down to have my car put on a rolling road at dynotech/dyno dynamics bases in dartford, talking to the owner and he is willing to stage an event if theres is enough intrest 15 cars put on the rolling road fastest car wins a bottle of bubbly.
so thinking first event golf mk3 gti NON TURBOS if you think that your car has got what it takes to win then drop me pm and ill get back to you asap. ill be putting the pictures up of my car on the rollong road etc maybe get an actual page set up on here with pictures of cars involved etc etc and a winners page. bit of fun get your car tested 100% properly and get print outs on the day and a technician walikng you through
entry will be £35.00 a car there is a limit on the time on the road 3 runs per car so only 15 cars for this day if there is enough intrest ill book the day to be on a sunday.

Nope, you're right :P it does.
And you're right, I may not "own" it but I'll "own" it haha! I'd give you some notes when you sell haha!
-
whats wrong with my car on the rolling road
-
lol she done me proud today 177.4 bhp not bad for an old girl
-
Nothing wrong with her, she looks a very clean example of a VR, just personally not a fan of the chrome wing mirrors and window guards. Glad she did well though :)
-
as above ian
loose those bits mentioned and you have a peach
-
thought vr's had more ponies than 177? :undecided:
-
thought vr's had more ponies than 177? :undecided:
174 is standard on the golf VR...
-
getting resprayed dearched in 2 months and colour codded all round. then it will be a peach
how about this day then?
-
thought vr's had more ponies than 177? :undecided:
174 is standard on the golf VR...
oh. dnno why i thought they had more poke
-
yeah 174 standard considering i have done nothing to engine just air filter and exhaust. for a 15 rear old engine thats good, air to fuel ratio is as straight as any thing the technician working on the car said that it should have lost around 10bhp due to mileage and age.
-
thought vr's had more ponies than 177? :undecided:
2.8 Vr6 is around 174bhp, 2.9 is 190bhp.
-
Well my ol vr made 191.4bhp last year at Awesome so they vary but ive heard of standard obd2 vr's pushing 190. But 177 isn't bad at all....was that an at the wheels figure of measured from the fly?
-
I wanna get mine done, where will this be taking place
-
ill scan the graphs i got and put them up. 177 on the fly wheel.
event will be held europa trading est, fraser road, erith ,kent once i get 15 people up ill book it and get a date.
-
all depends on the rollers too and how accurate they are, theirs alot of crap ones out their, Well Lane turbo centre near me has a very accurate roller...
-
Yea and 2.9's are in Corrados!
-
here is the website of dynotech
www.hayesdynotech.co.uk
-
the dyno is really accurate aswell, they held an evo day last week 11 cars turned up no complaints pictures and print outs are on the garage walls. they booked another event evo vs scoobys in 2 months. the dyno is only 10 months old and the technician knows his stuff
-
im up for this dartford only round the corner, just need me gearbox fixed LOL
-
sorting it ouf for about 4-5 weeks so let me know
-
will do :)
-
we all know who's gonna win this dont we kells??
16v's for the MFW!!!!
-
cough VR6 cough
-
lol, yeah deffo not a 8v..
bit too far for me anyhow or id have come along for the laugh
-
vr6 aint a gti
same too far for me also
-
tbh vr6 is overestimated.....only 30 hp more than a 16v, yet it has 800cc more and 2 more cylinders......
-
yh and alot more heavier, im in wanna see how much power i have lost
-
2bh from a 2.8 v6 i'd be pretty dissapointed if it didnt reach at least the 200bhp mark. an the vr6 guzzle's the juice for that extra 30bhp it aint worth it. thats why im going down the 1.8T route, far more power and much more fuel economy.
-
ah but the sound of a V6 roar gives me a semi :)
-
Lmao, u need to get out more
still doesnt justify the expense
-
cant argue the sound is amazing, but in terms of power output, its pants.
-
i dont mind the added expense, judging by the mpg thread its probably just as economical as the gti's :)

can you get 40mpg?
-
Lmao, u need to get out more
still doesnt justify the expense
X 1000000000000000000000
if that gives you a semi id be very worried, what ya gonna do, have sex with the tailpipe?
the thought of cheryl tweedy in my bed is what floats my boat, or the lass behind the bar at the club i work for, not the sound of a vr engine hahahahaha...

I couldn't agree more! In mk3 standard form the 16v is deffo ftw. The vr ain't all that! Still want a 20v T in my mk3 though
Pete

i had a gti 8 valve before my first vr6 ( i have had 3 now) when i got my gti the next week my mate got a vr6 took me for a drive..........and i sold my gti the next week. trust me if you drive a vr6 you wont want to go backwards even a turbo gti, i would rather put a turbo on my vr. my last vr6 was 220 bhp but had some good mods on the engine. this one i have done nothing to and done 177bhp for a 15 year old car with 140000 on the clocks is s**t hot.

Yeah but it's 177 bhp from a 2.8 v6. You really could do much better! I am not denying it's more powerful than a gti and I do like the vr! But all that engine for those numbers.... Give me the 20v T. Oh and I have driven a vr! Loved it.

iv had a vr before mate, it was my mates but i was the driver of it, i now got a 8v haha, tbh the vr didnt impress, it was alot slower than my swift GTI which is only a 1.3 hahaha (although 158bhp), not sayin the vr is bad but jsut your message above dont really ring true, not for me anyhow
would deffo much rather have a 20vt unde rthe hood than a vr lump, thats is a deffo!!!, BAM all the way, VR dont handle aswell as the 8v either, far too much weight up front
-
your all wrong lol  i love a bit of banter
-
Each to their own i say....i loved my vr, the sound the torque...pulled hard in any gear, not like my old valver where you had to drop a gear to get anywhere.
Been in an 8v and tbh it was wack but like i said each to their own.
-
by the way the vr6 is 174bhp standard
-
dont think anyone is sayin the vr isnt the fastest mk 3 out of the box mate..because it is
just theirs other things out their thats better for what ever reason
-
come on lets get 10 cars together for this day £35.00 a car which is nearly half price and be good to see some of the motors get some pictures up and put them on here.
-
is it just a power run matey??
-
I'd be surprised if you get 15 mk3 owners up for it. However, being 4wd rollers i'm sure there are some mk4 and mk5 owners that may be interested
-
you will get 3 runs with 3 print outs
tractive effort
high speed air fuel ratio
flywheel torque
even if we get 5 golf gtis, 5 vr6 5 mk4 etc etc if there is enough intrest ill book 2 days
