how many miles should rear pads be good for?
thanks
-
my history says 70000 miles.. and at 130000 I've jut put a new set in
-
only done 37k on mine and i reckon there's not much (if any!) left on them??
-
it depends on the driver but that seems low mileage! I would check the handbrake mechs to see if there still ok!
-
I have changed mine recently when it ticked over 125k, and they looked like they could of been the originals. lol
-
Rear brakes are meant to be 30% of the load on the fronts. On average, the fronts should last 20k - so simple maths says they should last 60k ish.
But going off figures is silly, just look at them ;) You don't want them to end up like this ...

^ i've done better than that  sparks flying and everything!
37k on a set of rear pads doesn't sound like anything to be concerned about, especially if the discs are old.

60k on a set of rear pads?

well the discs are old (i've never changed them and done 64k on them, don't know how long they'd been on before that!!)
so i guess that's it then!!
out of interest i never carry rear passengers or loads...i guess that would require more rear braking??
what about the handbrake, i almost always leave the handbrake off (except when on a hill ) would this have any effect on the rear brakes??

Just had my 1st rear pads changed at 63000 miles.
